Reef Check survey in progress
Reef Check Malaysia is part of the worldwide Reef Check network.
Registered in Malaysia in 2007 as an NGO, our early work was focused on coral reef monitoring and island-based educational programs.
Today, we monitor over 300 coral reefs annually around the country and are actively involved in marine environment management and conservation efforts.

To bring together stakeholders to collaborate on marine ecosystems monitoring, management, research and conservation, and advocacy.

RCM’s goals for the period 2021-2025 are:
Goal 1
Local stakeholders are empowered to participate in management of marine resources.
Goal 2
Resilience-based principles are incorporated into marine resource management.
Goal 3
The marine management policy, legal and funding framework is strengthened.
Trained local marine conservation group, the TMCG, removing ghost nets.
