Reef Check Malaysia’s Annual Event 2023: Charting A Sustainable Future
On 9 November 2023, we gathered for our Annual Event, bringing together our supporters, funders, EcoDivers, and our entire team.
Julian Hyde, our Chief Executive Officer, provided insights into the current state of coral reefs up to 2023 and outlined how our programmes contribute to Malaysia's progress in achieving the targets set by the Global Biodiversity Framework.
Our Programme Managers, Shahir, Don, Asma, and, Nadhirah, presented updates on the conservation initiatives taking place in Tioman Island, Mersing group of islands, Redang Island, and Sabah.
This year, our Chief Programme Officer, Alvin Chelliah, discussed our campaign to prevent the construction of the new Tioman Airport. He expressed gratitude to all who supported us during the campaign, contributing to its success.
Theresa Ng, our Chief Operations Officer, shared insights into the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) coordinated in 2023. Additionally, she highlighted our inaugural 'Kod Blue: Laut Needs You' event, an awareness initiative held in conjunction with ICC, hosted on Tioman Island.
